When a service worker in Slagelse Municipality replaces a lightbulb at a nursing home, it’s not just about light in a room. It’s about supporting the municipality’s core mission: safety, care, and creating good conditions for its citizens.
This is the mindset behind what Ann-Britt Jørgensen calls Welfare Facility Management. Ann-Britt remembers well how it all began:
– In the past, we had janitors who took care of “their” school. Knowledge was in their heads or in spreadsheets on a PC. No shared overview.
When the municipality centralised its service area, everything changed. Service staff now had to solve tasks across the municipality, and Ann-Britt was given the task of building a new practice – with EG MainManager as the foundation.
It was no small task: 440,000 m² spread across 850 buildings – equivalent to 2,900 single-family homes – had to be operated and maintained smarter.
– Our goal was, and still is, to become a data-driven organisation. EG MainManager has been a loyal companion on that journey, she says.
A System That Ties Everything Together
Today, EG MainManager is the core system that connects all the municipality’s property data.
We can pull data from finance, energy, cleaning, condition assessments, and energy labelling – and link it to areas, usage, and categories from EG MainManager. It gives us overview on both a strategic and operational level and enables us to act proactively and make better decisions, explains Ann-Britt.
A New Everyday Life for Service Staff
The transition was big. First, every service worker got an iPad. They had to learn to follow tasks digitally and report when they were completed. It took many visits to offices and workshops to get everyone on board.
Planners had to get used to registering all tasks in EG MainManager – categorised as urgent, planned, or operational. At the same time, annual task wheels were created to show which tasks needed to be registered and when.
– We cleaned up a “cloud” of miscategorised tasks, ensured that all orders to external contractors were sent on time, and connected all invoices so they are now handled digitally in EG MainManager, fully integrated with our finance system, says Ann-Britt.
The result is an entirely new level of control: Users and citizens can report issues via helpdesk, planned tasks are logged, and condition assessments are followed up. The department can now produce reliable data, track developments over time, and act proactively – both for politicians and KL.

Continuous Development
Eight years later, Ann-Britt can confirm that EG MainManager has delivered – but she still sees new opportunities.
– Right now, we are conducting condition assessments in another system. We want to bring that into EG MainManager so that all tasks and data are in one place. We also see major benefits in adopting the cleaning module, so we can consolidate floor plans and run satisfaction surveys just like we do for service tasks.
Along the way, the municipality has also created a fire safety portal in EG MainManager, showing the exact location of all fire extinguishing equipment.
Core Mission in Focus
Even though EG MainManager is about operations and maintenance, at the end of the day it’s really about people.
– In municipalities, we must constantly prove that we are here for the citizens. We don’t exist just to own bricks and roofs. Our job is to ensure that the municipality’s buildings function as the framework for delivering core services to citizens, says Ann-Britt Jørgensen, Facilities Management, Strategy & Property Operations.
