Now we have full control over all services and have much less downtime. Before we got good systems, we only had yellow, manual notes. Now it is much easier.
EG Maintenance is important for Glava to keep the machines running
Almost 90 years ago, this Norwegian industrial adventure began. In Norway there's a good chance that you live in a house with Glava Insulation in the walls, as every day, 110 tons of glass wool are rolled out at the factory in Askim. "To achieve this, we need to anticipate problems before they arise," says foreman Ole Jørgen.
Sustainable and Green Product
"Here we produce Glava, which is glass wool. It contains a lot of recycled glass and is a sustainable and green product," says Ole Jørgen Henriksen. He started on the factory floor as an apprentice in 1992 and has worked his way up in this cornerstone company. "I'm starting to become experienced," Ole Jørgen laughs.
Insulation for 2.4 Billion NOK
The cheerful Eastfold native is one of 500 employees at Glava. Since 1935, the company has produced glass wool, originally known as glass batting. Today, Glava, which offers a wide range of sustainable and innovative insulation products and building materials to the Norwegian construction industry, has a turnover of 2.4 billion NOK.
In addition to Glava Insulation, the Glava family includes the brands Weber and Gyproc.
"Here in Askim, we produce approximately 110 tons of glass wool daily. There is a lot to oversee. The most important thing is preventive maintenance, to spot issues before they occur. This saves us a lot of downtime.
In addition, we have scheduled stops and services to ensure the longest possible lifespan for the equipment," explains Ole Jørgen as he guides us through the traditional company:
"Now we are in the mechanical workshop. Here we fix almost everything."
Complete Overview of Machinery
EG Maintenance is a user-friendly system for industrial maintenance. It is a standardized system that is easy to implement and provides a complete overview of the entire machinery fleet.
This is precisely why EG Maintenance is crucial for Glava to keep the machines running and ensure that customers receive all the insulation they have ordered on time.
"The EG Maintenance tool includes routines for all services at regular intervals. Additionally, we can add other work orders that are more urgent.
EG Maintenance is a very useful tool for us," says the foreman.
Full Control
Much has changed since he started as an apprentice nearly 30 years ago.
"Now we have full control over all services and experience much less downtime. Before we had good systems, we used manual yellow notes. Now, it's much easier. This efficiency makes the workday productive, allowing us to produce as much glass wool as possible:
"That's great. Sales are booming, and everything is fantastic," Ole Jørgen laughs.
