Caroline Kvapil

Chief Consultant

What do you do at EG today, and what difference do you feel you make?

As a Chief Consultant at EG Utility, I work closely with our customers every day to help them optimize their operations and processes. I also collaborate with colleagues across the globe, which constantly broadens my perspective and brings new insights into my work. With a background in the energy industry, I draw on my experience to better understand our clients’ challenges and deliver solutions that make a real impact.

What truly motivates me is the opportunity to learn something new every day. In IT, there is always more to discover – and that continuous learning is something I genuinely enjoy. At EG, we support each other and work as a team to ensure high-quality results for our customers, which makes it a truly rewarding environment to be part of.

Why do you find it exciting to work in the IT industry, and what drives you in your role?

The IT industry is constantly evolving, which makes it both exciting and demanding. There are always new challenges to tackle and new technologies to explore. I’m driven by the chance to solve complex problems and to see the immediate value my work creates for customers.

It’s rewarding to know that what I do contributes directly to improving our clients’ operations. Staying up to date with the latest developments can be tough, but it’s also what keeps the work engaging. Being part of a fast-moving, collaborative environment with great colleagues and customers makes all the difference.

How did you get into the IT industry?

My path into IT wasn’t traditional. I didn’t study IT at university – instead, I transitioned into the field after working for many years in the energy sector. At a previous job, I was given the chance to move into an internal IT role, and that opened the door to consultancy work.

Since then, I’ve taken a few courses and done a lot of self-learning. Most of what I know today, I’ve taught myself – driven by curiosity and a desire to grow. While I haven’t followed a formal education path in IT, I truly admire those who have. We all bring different strengths to the table, and I believe it’s that mix of backgrounds and experiences that makes our teams successful.

Caroline’s story shows how curiosity, adaptability, and hands-on experience can lead to a meaningful career in IT. From her experience in the energy industry to her role as a trusted advisor to clients, Caroline is proof that there’s more than one way into tech – and that with the right mindset, anything is possible.
