The University Hospital of North Norway HF offers digital follow-up within mental health via CheckWare, which gives patients the opportunity to record information about their health status digitally. This provides more flexible follow-up, where patients can avoid unnecessary visits to the hospital. Before starting, the patient receives an SMS with a login link to the hospital's digital patient form (CheckWare).

Login is done via ID-porten or with an SMS code, and the service is available on smartphone, tablet, or PC. For those without electronic ID, the use of a one-time code via SMS can be arranged.

During the follow-up, the patient answers questions in the digital form, where responses are saved along the way and can be completed later. The patient receives an SMS notification when it is time for a new registration. All information is handled confidentially, in accordance with applicable laws and regulations, and documented in the patient's medical record. After registration, the healthcare provider reviews the answers, and if there is a need for supervision or treatment, the patient is called in for an appointment. If there is no need, the patient receives an invitation for a new self-registration after some time. Patients can contact their department if they no longer wish to use digital follow-up.
