The challenge has been to ensure that employees can easily find and book a workspace when they come to the office, especially with the growing trend of hybrid work. At the same time, it is crucial to utilize all available square meters efficiently to reduce costs and energy consumption.

EG has made a strategic decision to gradually implement EG Worksense, a comprehensive solution for workspace management and development, in all relevant locations across all countries.

Now, EG has real-time data on workspace usage and strategic management. This ensures that employees can easily book a desk whenever and wherever needed, while office spaces are utilized efficiently to optimize costs and energy consumption.

To support a flexible, activity-based office with free seating and reduce costs and energy consumption EG implements EG Worksense in all relevant office locations.

EG has more than 2,800 employees across over 40 locations, spanning from Tromsø in Norway in the north to Mangaluru in India in the south.

Thanks to acquisitions and growth, new locations and employees are continually being added, which poses significant demands on optimizing facilities. There must neither be too much nor too little office space. If there is too much, it becomes expensive and could negatively impact the company’s ESG criteria. On the other hand, if there is too little space, it may affect employees negatively.

For this reason, EG has decided to gradually implement the company's own workspace management software, EG Worksense, in various offices.

"EG Worksense allows me to utilize our square meters optimally while respecting employees' needs to arrive at a vacant workstation. Best of all, decisions about resizing etc. are now made based on facts rather than feelings", says Søren Kragh Sørensen, Senior Manager, Facility & Service, EG.

With EG Worksense, EG can thus save on operational costs and limit energy consumption without employees having to play musical chairs when finding a desk at the workplace:

"Time has passed when there needed to be a chair and desk at an office for every single employee. Especially at our large locations. The statistics shows that our employees are in fact often away from their home office on customer visits, working at other EG locations than their own, or even working from home. Therefore, my job is to keep costs down and ensure that every employee can always book a place where they wish to work," says Søren Kragh Sørensen.

"We have initially implemented the solution in the largest offices in Denmark, Norway, Finland, Poland and India. The next location is our new shared office in Stockholm, Sweden. The end goal is to have implemented EG Worksense in all relevant locations, so we are gradually rolling it out," explains Søren Kragh Sørensen.

With EG Worksense, EG employees can book a suitable workspace and location through a mobile or web application before arriving at the office - or even on the go. If necessary, they can book a desk near a colleague to collaborate, a meeting room for discussions, or a parking space for their car.
