Epilepsy follow-up - digital self-registration, children and youth

Helse Nord-Trøndelag HF offers a digital self-registration service through CheckWare for children and adolescents with epilepsy, giving patients and their guardians the opportunity to record information about seizures, treatment, and quality of life. The service enables patients to actively participate in the follow-up of their health. The responses from the patients are assessed by epilepsy nurses, and if further follow-up is needed, the patient will be contacted. The service can also be used for direct contact with healthcare professionals.

This digital follow-up provides a flexible alternative to traditional outpatient appointments and is especially useful for patients who prefer a more proactive approach to treatment. Patients can easily discontinue the digital follow-up and return to regular outpatient care at any time.

About the service

Helse Nord-Trøndelag HF offers a digital self-registration service for children and adolescents with epilepsy, designed to give patients and their guardians greater involvement in the follow-up process. Through a secure online portal provided by CheckWare, patients can record information about seizures, treatment, and quality of life, thereby contributing to a more personalized and flexible follow-up. This service is available via PC, tablet, or mobile, and requires login through ID-porten (BankID).

After the patient has completed the questionnaire, epilepsy nurses assess the responses and make contact if further follow-up is necessary. If no additional measures are needed, the patient will not be contacted until the next registration. If needed, patients can also contact healthcare professionals directly through the portal.

This digital follow-up is an alternative to traditional outpatient appointments and gives patients the opportunity to control when and how the follow-up takes place. It is especially suited for patients who want a more flexible and proactive approach to their treatment. Patients can discontinue the digital follow-up at any time and return to regular outpatient follow-up if they wish.
