EG CheckWare becomes part of the most comprehensive framework agreement for digital home monitoring in Norway

The largest Norwegian framework agreement for digital home monitoring ever was announced by Helse Sør-Øst last year. EG CheckWare is one of six companies that have now been approved to deliver solutions to the large health region. The agreement has a duration of two years, with the possibility of an additional two-year extension.

The significant contract facilitates a comprehensive scaling up of digital home monitoring. Home monitoring is an important part of the development toward creating a sustainable Norwegian healthcare system, where human resources can be freed up to provide care and be present for those who need it.

– We are proud and happy, says Sales Director Kim Mugaas at EG CheckWare.

– This agreement will make it much easier for all our customers to gather ideas, as well as create and share health services across health regions and hospitals throughout the country, he says.

Easier, faster, and more affordable for the hospitals

Regional framework agreements ensure that all 11 health enterprises in Helse Sør-Øst can use the digital solutions from the six companies. Besides EG CheckWare, the winners of the tender are Diffia, Dignio, Tellu, Youwell, and Siemens Healthineers.

– CheckWare is already used by over half a million patients across the country. The many excellent healthcare services within user-controlled outpatient clinics and guided internet treatment that have already been created using CheckWare make us very excited for what’s ahead, says Mugaas.

In the news article from Helse Sør-Øst RHF, Rune Simensen, Director of Technology and e-Health at Helse Sør-Øst RHF, says:

– We are very pleased to have secured this framework agreement. It will make it easier, faster, and more cost-effective for hospitals to adopt new digital solutions that can both ease the daily work of employees and strengthen patient care.

Significant positive consequences

There are several benefits to using digital home follow-up: One of them is increased caregiver capacity through reduced length of stay, as well as fewer hospital admissions and outpatient appointments per patient. The climate impact is also reduced through decreased transportation needs. Additionally, digitalization enhances opportunities for patient participation, which in turn can lead to higher patient satisfaction.

In a press release issued by the health cluster Norway Health Tech, CEO Heidi Blengsli Aabel of EG CheckWare states that this is a milestone for the Norwegian health technology industry.

– But first and foremost, it is gratifying for the patients and healthcare personnel in the hospitals, who both want and need our solutions. Since we started, our core business has been to simplify the collection and use of patient-reported data. This is useful in clinical work, research, and quality reporting, she says.

Norway Health Tech, of which EG CheckWare is a member, states that the framework agreement is a confirmation that Norwegian providers maintain a high standard.

- Norway has many companies within digital home follow-up that operate at a high international level. This historically important framework agreement underscores this. The agreement paves the way for significant scaling of these services, and we look forward to the companies' services being implemented across Helse Sør-Øst, and preferably also nationally, says CEO of Norway Health Tech, Lena Nymo Helli, in the statement.
