Bankdata CEO joins EG to lead newly established division

Esben Kolind Laustrup, former CEO of Bankdata, joins EG on 15 June as EVP of EG’s new Citizen Welfare & Utility division. Having tripled its revenue since 2019 and with five acquisitions in 2026, EG is now moving from three to four divisions to match the growing business and the momentum created by acquisitions and EG’s accelerating AI rollout.

Esben Kolind Laustrup joins on 15 June 2026 as Executive Vice President of EG’s new Citizen Welfare & Utility division. He comes from seven years as CEO of Bankdata, where he led an organisation of 1,100 employees through one of the most comprehensive consolidations in the Nordic banking software sector.

In his new role, Esben Kolind Laustrup takes responsibility for a business area bringing together EG’s software for education, utilities, and public sector administration. The area has recently been significantly strengthened through EG’s largest acquisition to date; Edlevo and the HR & Payroll business from Tieto.

We have more growth opportunities ahead of us than at any other point in EG's history, and at the same time AI is fundamentally changing the pace of the market. To capture that potential and continue the momentum, we are expanding from three to four divisions. The fact that we can attract a profile like Esben to lead Citizen Welfare & Utility underlines how far EG has come, and more importantly, where we are headed

Mikkel Bardram, CEO, EG.

Four divisions sharpen market focus

EG is moving from three to four divisions. The existing Healthcare & Citizen Welfare division will be split in two: Citizen Welfare & Utility, which Esben Kolind Laustrup takes over, and Health & Beauty, which continues under Johnny Iversen. The two remaining divisions, Construction, Property & Asset Management and Retail & Supply Chain, continue under their current leadership of Michael Moyell Juul and Erik Tomren respectively.

The new divisional structure provides closer market focus as EG’s customers navigate an AI-driven transformation. It also creates greater capacity to integrate new and future acquisitions into the portfolio.

Close to customers in a sector under transformation

Esben Kolind Laustrup brings direct experience from developing industry-specific software, having led the consolidation of the Nordic banking sector’s software infrastructure. At EG, he continues that journey across industries and countries. He will lead a division covering education, utilities, and public sector administration. Within these markets industry-specific AI holds some of the greatest potential to free up resources and strengthen the services that citizens and businesses depend on.

I have always believed that industry-specific software is the best way to ensure the value of technology reaches as many people as possible. That opportunity is greater now than ever before. AI brings us closer to the craft than any technology before it, and that value is best delivered by someone who truly understands an industry’s workflows. EG has the scale, the breadth, and the Nordic roots to deliver on that promise

Esben Kolind Laustrup, EVP Citizen Welfare & Utility, EG.
