The new system replaces an older solution and is part of the company's modernisation of its customer-facing and business-critical IT systems.

The system, EG Zynergy, will manage Göteborg Energi's approximately 200,000 electricity retail customers and around 15 million processed meter readings per day, primarily in the municipality of Gothenburg and western Sweden.

EG Zynergy is developed for the energy industry and energy companies. The system is built for the industry's core processes, including contract management, EDIEL and meter data management, customer installation management, product and pricing management, billing basis and rating logic, invoicing, and accounts receivable.

IT security was one of the areas that carried significant weight in Göteborg Energi's evaluation, as it has become increasingly important for energy companies amid growing requirements and a heightened threat landscape. EG Zynergy is delivered with a security infrastructure and a hosting environment in data centres that at minimum meet Protection Level 3 of the Swedish Civil Contingencies Agency (MSB). The solution was assessed to meet the procurement's security requirements, reflecting the importance the energy industry today places on a robust and future-proof architecture, an area in which EG consistently performs strongly across various tenders and evaluations.

Göteborg Energi chose EG Zynergy for its electricity retail business because the solution combines modern standard software with deep industry insight and a genuine commitment to building a close partnership.

For us, it was about finding a solution that is built for the Swedish energy market and that will last over time. Because it is standardised for our market, we can focus our efforts on developing the business rather than customising the system. We look forward to a good partnership with EG

Per Löfgren, Business Developer at Göteborg Energi.

The agreement is the result of a process that began as early as spring 2025, when Göteborg Energi first approached EG in its search for a more modern customer information system (CIS), primarily for electricity retail. The procurement process included a broader market analysis, less detailed control against individual requirements, and solution demonstrations in several stages, carried out through an ongoing and iterative dialogue between the parties. The agreement was signed in early July 2026.

We are proud that Göteborg Energi's electricity retail business has chosen EG as its partner. The agreement is a strong confirmation of our solution, our industry expertise, and our ability to create business value. Throughout the process, we have worked closely with the customer to understand their needs and ambitions, and this has built the trust that forms the foundation for a long-term partnership and for the results we will achieve together in the years ahead

Bjarki Björnsson, Senior Vice President at EG:

We didn't win on technical competence alone. We also won on our ability to understand the customer and translate that understanding into trust, value, and a strong partnership.

The customer information system EG Zynergy is delivered as a cloud service on Microsoft Azure and includes, among other things, licensing and support, operations, implementation, consulting services, and training.

Göteborg Energi will integrate several of its other systems with EG Zynergy, including CRM, customer web portal, My Pages, app, BI, and its master data platform. With open REST APIs, the solution becomes a central part of the system landscape rather than a standalone system, supporting Göteborg Energi's goal of an architecture that is both scalable and easy to integrate with other solutions.

The agreement initially runs for four years, with an option for a further eight years, bringing the total potential term to twelve years. A project phase with EG is now getting under way, and the solution is expected to go live in the latter part of 2027.
