EG has acquired the Swedish software company Bright Energy AB, which develops a digital customer platform for energy companies. Through Bright’s app, the solution allows end users to monitor and manage their energy consumption while providing utilities with data-driven insights into usage patterns.
This move sets EG’s direction for a broader Nordic rollout of AI- and data-driven energy platforms, giving consumers greater control over their energy use.
Bright Energy has established a strong position in the Swedish market as one of the most widely used platforms for customer engagement and energy management. The platform is currently used by many utilities and reaches hundreds of thousands of active end users.
The acquisition builds on the existing partnership between EG and Bright Energy and allows EG to expand its offering from core systems such as Customer Information System (CIS) to also include the software used by utilities to engage with their customers via Bright’s app.
Customer-facing energy solution for a market in transition
The energy market is changing rapidly. Electrification, higher shares of renewable energy, and greater price volatility mean that customers need to monitor and manage their energy consumption, which places new demands on utilities’ digital solutions and customer engagement.
With Bright Energy, EG gains access to an established solution that connects utilities’ systems with customers’ energy use. The platform uses AI and data to analyze consumption patterns, provide forecasts, and support smart energy management. Integrated into EG’s existing software portfolio, it provides utilities with more complete end-to-end support across the entire digital customer journey, from core processes to helping customers better manage their energy consumption.
“Customer energy consumption is playing an increasingly important role in the green transition. Together with Bright Energy, we make it easy for utilities to provide relevant energy management to their customers. At the same time, utilities gain better insight into their operations, and we can help our existing customers get even closer to their end users”.
The acquisition strengthens EG’s position in the energy sector and is an important step in its ambition to be the leading Nordic software partner for a rapidly evolving energy market.
As part of EG, we gain the scale and pace required to further develop our platform and expand our presence across the Nordic region”.
The acquisition of Bright takes effect as of 19 December 2025.
