Implements the Energy Management System in 70+ stores

14 days. That's all it took for the two major Norwegian wholesalers Byggmakker and Onninen to pick EG EnerKey as their new energy management system.

The two wholesalers owned by K-Group decided to move fast as they realized they needed a better overview of their energy consumption.

- We share a very ambitious climate goal to be carbon neutral in 2025, and energy prices in Norway was sevenfold in 2022. This made us look around for an energy management system. We were recommended to look at EG EnerKey, and we are convinced, that this is the right solution for us. All over Norway

By implementing the energy management system EG EnerKey in the stores all over Norway, the store managers will get a much better overview of the actual consumption in their own store.

- Historically they have mainly received data once or twice a year. With a more frequent and automated overview of the actual consumption in EG EnerKey, the store managers will be able to look at both the historic and actual consumption and make more data-driven decisions, says Trond Martin Nettelhorst:

With easy access to data in EG EnerKey, I believe it will be much easier for the store managers to see the effect of turning the light of at nighttime, adjust the ventilation or turn down the temperature where possible.

EG EnerKey will help us document the effect of our energy initiatives and this will help us communicate the value of the investments, both internally to our employees and externally to our stakeholders as part of our ESG reporting.

Strict focus on carbon neutrality

The implementation of EG EnerKey is part of a larger effort in Byggmakker and Onninen to become carbon neutral.

- For some years we have been working hard to cut down on consumption. We have been working with reducing waste in the stores, optimizing the logistics and recently we bought our first e-truck. With EG EnerKey we will be able to focus more on our energy consumption in the stores, says Trond Martin Nettelhorst Tveit.

All the tools needed in one package

The service package for Byggmakker og Onninen includes data collection from the Norwegian Elhub, consumption reporting for electricity, district heating and water, emission reporting, deviation management tool with alarms with an option for commenting as well as tools for planning, monitoring, and managing energy saving actions and target setting and follow up.

K-Group that operates the building and home improvement trade chain Byggmakker as well as the technical wholesalers Onninen, which recently bought another technical wholesaler, Elektroskandia Norge.

- We will also implement EG EnerKey in both the central warehouse and the nine Elektroskandia-shops in Norway in order to have the same energy management system in all locations, says Head of Property Norway, Trond Martin Nettelhorst Tveit, K-Group.
